Filmmaker Karan Johar took to his Instagram handle and heaped praise on the recently released web show Kohrra. Starring Barun Sobti, Suvinder Vicky, Harleen Sethi, Rachel Shelly, and others, Kohrra is directed by Randeep Jha. Karan penned a heartfelt note, praising the director, actors, and the intriguing plot of the movie.

Karan wrote, “Sometimes the fog never lifts and leaves everything gloomy and even dark… much like the human personality … #Kohrrra the latest @netflix_in drop is arguably the best series I have seen since #trialbyfire ( both directed by the brilliant breakthrough filmmaker @randeepjha) what starts off as a murder procedural goes onto scratch the surface of parental patriarchy and entitlement, the psychology of a disturbed childhood, a woman’s right to passion and compassion and dealing with your inner demons.”

He said that the show was brilliantly written and added that he was blown away by the performances. He added, “I was blown away by the performances @suvindervicky is and will be the revelation of 2023 across film and streaming … his silences can launch a million scripts ! @barunsobti_says is outstanding …. Shuttling between machismo and vulnerability he nails the part with veteran ease.” He also praised Harleen Sethi, Rachel and Varun Badola and called the show a masterpiece.

Hansal Mehta also praised the show and wrote on twitter, “Pet themes from Paatal Lok and Udta Punjab show up in different ways in the quite spectacular Kohrra on Netflix.”

The show revolves around a murder investigation of an NRI right before his wedding in the countryside of Punjab. Sudip Sharma, Diggi Sisodia and Gunjit Chopra are the creators of the web show. Kohrra is currently streaming on Netflix.
