Zhao Lusi, who shot to fame with Netflix’s blockbuster Hidden Love, has made a heartbreaking confession. The Chinese drama star revealed that while on medication, she struggles to recall things and, for the near future, doesn’t see herself acting in any dramas. The actress first went viral in January after a dramatic weight loss, with concerning images of her in a wheelchair surfacing online. In December, a bombshell post accused her company of physical and mental abuse, allegedly leading to her sudden health decline. Now, as she continues on the road to recovery, she’s opening up about the challenges she still faces.
On March 27, Zhao Lusi’s reality show Be Myself aired its first episode. The travel-based series follows her on a healing journey and offers a raw, unfiltered look at her health struggles. In one conversation with a young co-star, she casually shared how harsh medications have taken a toll on her, making it impossible for her to memorise scripts.
According to Koreaboo, the 26-year-old star, during the premiere of her new variety show, which began airing on March 27, was joined by child actor Fu Bohan, who accompanied her throughout the episodes. In one particular scene, the two discussed the side effects of her medication. Zhao shared that while the medicine helps her feel alright, it comes with a big drawback. It affects her memory. She admitted that since she has temporarily lost the ability to memorise, taking on drama roles would be nearly impossible as she wouldn’t be able to remember her script.

“If you take the medicine, you won’t feel pain,” she explained, “but you can’t retain memory.”
Fu Bohan, visibly concerned, asked, “So you really can’t film any dramas now since you can’t remember your script?”
Zhao nodded, admitting, “Yeah, I’m unable to retain memory.”
Hearing this, Fu Bohan gently told her, “Then don’t film dramas. Rest well for a while.”
Her new variety show will air every Thursday 12:00pm (GMT+8) on MangoTV.

In January 2025, Zhao Lusi revealed that her weight had dropped drastically, at one point falling to just 37kg. The Chinese actress, best known for playing Sang Zhi in the hit C-drama Hidden Love, soon confirmed that she was suspending all ongoing work commitments, including her current drama shoot. On January 1, Zhao took to Weibo to address the situation, responding to shocking allegations of abuse. “I think it is wrong if someone who is not receiving any support is silenced while their abuser grows bolder, regardless of profession, age, or gender. It’s ridiculous to force someone to reopen old wounds to prove they’re not ‘overthinking,’ not ‘too weak,’ or not ‘unsatisfied,’” she wrote.
She also revealed that the abuser not only harmed her but also used threats of self-harm to manipulate her. Later reports confirmed that Zhao was diagnosed with Dissociative Conversion Disorder, a condition that “disrupts her memory, movement, and overall awareness.”
