SS Rajamouli’s next with Mahesh Babu launched with a special ceremony

Interestingly, Mahesh Babu hasn’t attended a muhurat pooja of his film for a few years now. It is his wife and former actor Namrata who attends these events. The Dookudu actor has made an exception for the much-anticipated film, which is expected to go on floors soon. Backed by KL Narayana, the film, tentatively referred to as SSMB 29, is expected to be the most expensive Indian film ever. There are reports that a major Hollywood studio would also be involved in the production of the film, which will be shot in global locations. There have been no official updates about the cast and crew of the movie except for the presence of Mahesh Babu, Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, writer Vijayendra Prasad, and cinematographer PS Vinod. SSMB 29 marks Vinod’s second straight collaboration with Mahesh Babu after Trivikram Srinivas’ Guntur Kaaram. 

The film is expected to bring in shades of mythology and weave it with an Indiana Jones-esque action adventure. There are reports that Priyanka Chopra-Jonas would play one of the leads alongside Mahesh Babu. If the makers have indeed signed on Priyanka, this could mark the actor’s debut in Telugu cinema. It is also suggested that actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran is playing a pivotal role in the film. 

With Mahesh Babu expected to go through a makeover for the film, the muhurat pooja happened in utmost secrecy with no photos being leaked from the ceremony. It is expected that the makers would release an official video of the same taking care to not spoil the surprise by revealing anything about the film till the time is right. Just like all Rajamouli movies, SSMN 29 is also expected to be shot over a lengthy period of time. In fact, the film is speculated to be a two-parter, just like his Baahubali films, and will hit the screens in 2027 and 2029.

Mahesh Babu too hasn’t signed any other project, and is expected to give it his all in what will definitely be the biggest film in the careers of everyone involved in the project.
