U19 Asia Cup: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks world record for most sixes in an innings against UAE U19 in Dubai. (ACC)
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s imperious batting form continued to another form and format as he smashed a blistering 56-ball century in India’s U19 Asia Cup opener against the United Arab Emirates at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Friday.
Opening the batting after UAE U19 opted to field, Suryavanshi went on a customary tear, powering the ball to all parts of the park. The dashing opener stormed to his century in only 56 balls on the back of a feast of boundaries.

Sooryavanshi then romped past another world record as he smashed his 13th six to close in on the 150-run mark, making it the most sixes ever struck by a batter in a Youth ODI innings. Suryavanshi surpassed the 12 sixes previously struck by Michael Hill for Australia U19 against Namibia U19 in 2008.

The 14-year-old from Samastipur, Bihar, also became the first batter in history to amass over 50 Youth ODI sixes in their career as he waltzed past his 150 in only 84 balls.
Sooryavanshi recently broke a bevvy of records in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s domestic T20 tournament. Recording his maiden SMAT ton in only 17th T20 innings, Sooryavanshi became the first teenager in the world to record three T20 centuries during their fledgling careers. Only his U-19 teammate Ayush Mhatre, who has struck two successive centuries in the ongoing SMAT edition, and France’s Gustav Mackeon have recorded two T20 centuries before turning 20.
Earlier in November, Sooryavanshi received his first India A cap during the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Qatar. Sooryavanshi smashed an extraordinary 32-ball century for India A in Doha against the UAE in the tournament.
