The family of late Bollywood legend Dharmendra recently hosted a prayer meet in his honour, which was attended by many dignitaries. To extend the tribute, the actor’s daughter, Esha Deol, also posted a long video on her social media. The video was a collection of clips from her father’s filmography, featuring snippets from his movies and songs. The video also featured their private family moments including Esha and Ahana’s weddings. Rare family photos also had Dharmendra with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their children Sunny, Bobby, Vijeta, and Ajeeta Deol. Many memorable Hindi tracks played in the background, with several family members and co-stars making an appearance.
The video started with a picture of Dharmendra and the words “Dharam Ji. Dilon mai likhi hui dastaan (The story embedded in hearts).” The song ‘Gar Tum Bhula Na Doge’ from Dharmendra’s film Yakeen (1969) started playing as several pictures and videos went across the screen. As Mohammad Rafi started singing the background, some more text flashed on the screen saying, “The face that defined an era.” Several snippets later, the video showcases a special message for Dharmendra, which was given by another legend.
Suddenly, actor Dilip Kumar’s voice started playing as the clips segued into a video of Kumar at an event. He said, “When I saw Dharmendra for the first time, a wish sprang up in my heart, which said, ‘Oh god! What all could have happened if you had made me like him?” Dharmendra can be seen visibly flustered and touching Kumar’s feet in the video. The tribute video continues as we see shots of Dharmendra and Hema singing and dancing in movies. The video also included pictures of both Esha and her sister Ahana Deol’s wedding, in which Dharmendra can be seen standing beside them.

Some more clips played from movies like Sholay (1975) and Dharam Veer (1977), before showing some of Dharmendra’s later work. This part included his cameo in Om Shanti Om (2007) and his films Apne (2007) and Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), with both his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Lastly, a quote from Dharmendra played in the background, which talked about life being a fleeting feeling and that no matter how beautiful it might be, it has to go one day.
At this point, the song ‘Tumhare Hawale Watan’ from the film Haqeeqat (1964) started playing, as the video slowly transitioned to the end. Dharmendra passed away on November 24 2025 at age 89.
