Samantha Ruth Prabhu regrets splurging on ‘useless’ expensive gifts for ‘ex’, fans ask if it is Naga Chaitanya

While Samantha Ruth Prabhu is basking in the success of her spy-action streaming series Citadel: Honey Bunny, her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya is busy working on his latest project Thandel, which will hit the screens in February next year. Though three years have passed since their separation and Chaitanya is now set to tie the knot with actor Sobhita Dhulipala, fans of the former couple, affectionately called “ChaySam,” seem far from moving on.

A recent remark by Samantha, in which she seemingly expressed regret over spending exorbitant sums on gifts for her “ex” during their time together, has stirred the internet. Though she refrained from mentioning names, many quickly assumed the comment was directed at Chaitanya. During a “Spy-cy Rapid Fire” segment with her Citadel co-star Varun Dhawan, Samantha openly shared her thoughts on the extravagant purchases she now consider “useless.”

When Varun asked, “What’s the most ridiculous amount of money you’ve spent on something completely useless,” Samantha quipped, “My ex’s expensive gifts.” Surprised, Varun pressed further, “Which is how much?” Samantha, visibly embarrassed, laughed and replied, “Quite a bit,” before asking for the the conversation to be steered into another topic.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya tied the knot in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Goa on October 6, 2017, followed by a Christian wedding the next day. After four years, the couple announced their separation on October 2, 2021, and eventually got divorced. Three years later, Chaitanya got engaged to Sobhita on August 8. They are all set to tie the knot in a traditional Telugu wedding on December 4.
