Composer Devi Sri Prasad, aka DSP, weaved magic with his music in 2021 blockbuster film Pushpa: The Rise. The film’s tracks “Oo Antava,” featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and “Saami Saami,” featuring Rashmika Mandanna, became a rage among fans. Now, the recently released season of the popular American series Never Have I Ever features lead actor Maitreyi Ramakrishnan dancing to “Saami Saami,” much to the joy of Pushpa fans. Reacting to the song being featured in the series, DSP said that he is elated.
In the last episode of the fourth and final season, Devi (played by Maitreyi) dances with her cousin Kamala at an Indian wedding. The series features the Tamil version of the song, as Devi’s character is from Tamil-American background.
Talking to indianexpress.com, Devi Sri Prasad said, “I feel really good, and I am happy about it. ‘Oo Antava’ was also featured around the globe and now ‘Saami Saami’ has also featured in this, and that too the Tamil version.” He added, “I have seen a bit of that show. I didn’t watch the whole thing, though but I have seen parts of the show.”
While the composer is working on several projects, one of his most anticipated upcoming releases is Pushpa: The Rule. DSP hopes that the audience gives double the love to his music in the upcoming film. “We are always aiming for the best. Like how we worked for Pushpa 1, we are all working hard for Pushpa 2 as well and recording is going on. Hope everyone will give us double the love,” shares the award-winning composer.
Recently, Rashmika also reacted to Maitreyi dancing on the track and complimented her on Twitter. She tweeted, “.@ramakrishnannn.. stunner! you did sooooo gooooooddddd. sending you full love.” To this, Maitreyi tweeted in response, “I will NEVER have imposter syndrome about dancing again. Thank you so much
@iamRashmika.”
Pushpa: The Rule’s teaser was released in April on Allu Arjun’s birthday. The film is expected to be released by the end of the year, and will bring back actor Fahadh Faasil, who played a negative role in the first film.
