Ritesh Agarwal’s former OYO employee stuns Shark Tank India judges with story of his temper, Vineeta Singh says, ‘I can’t believe it’
Shark Tank India 4: Aman Gupta felt 'kuch toh gadbad hai' after noticing how meek a founder was becoming while speaking to Ritesh Agarwal.

The fourth season of Shark Tank India has already witnessed a handful of exciting pitches, and the latest episode was no different. Two young entrepreneurs from Delhi, Paurav and Shamin, presented the panel of ‘sharks’ with their idea for a “We Work for cloud kitchens”. Their company is called Speed Kitchens, and it aims to provide growing brands with real estate from which they can operate their individual kitchens on a sharing basis. Paurav, who took the lead in the pitch, told the ‘sharks’ that the company can reduce all the logistical hassles that come with setting up a cloud kitchen, which is why major brands such as Haldiram’s, Chaayos, and Daryaganj are their partners.
They asked for Rs 2 crore in exchange of 3% equity, valuing their company at Rs 66 crore. The panel of ‘sharks’ on this episode included Aman Gupta, Ritesh Agarwal, Vineeta Singh, Azhar Iqubal and Kunal Bahl. The ‘sharks’ were very entertained by Paurav’s work experience, which he narrated as a travelogue. He said that he has worked in several countries across the world, and was employed at OYO before the pandemic. “Have you worked with Ritesh?” Vineeta asked, and Paurav sheepishly nodded, as Ritesh took a while to place him.
The ‘sharks’ all appreciated Paurav’s operational expertise, and praised the entrepreneurs for having set up a profitable business. Kunal said, “Normally, founders opt for businesses that are sexy, like creating an app. This is not a sexy business, and that’s why you’re profitable.” But Aman noticed that whenever Paurav spoke to Ritesh, his demeanor changed drastically. “Kuch toh gadbad hai Daya,” he joked, asking Paurav why he becomes so meek while talking to Ritesh. Paurav replied, “I’ve seen him very closely, I’ve seen his various moods and tempers, but there’s no gadbad.” Vineeta and the other ‘sharks’ were surprised to learn that the usually pleasant Ritesh could have anger issues. “Hum toh maan hi nahi sakte,” she said.
The ‘sharks’ were also interested in knowing why Paurav hadn’t approached Ritesh directly and tried to raise funds through that route. He said, “After I left OYO, we lost touch. And I tried to reach out, but sir must’ve been busy.” Ritesh said, “I cant tell you how happy I am seeing you here, there can’t be a better ambassador for OYO than you.” He offered the entrepreneurs Rs 2 crore, but asked for 10% in equity. Azhar offered to join him in the offer. Kunal was also impressed with Paurav, and offered him Rs 3 crore for 10%. Ritesh said, “Money is not an issue, we can also give you Rs 3 crore.”
The entrepreneurs consulted among each other for a few minutes, and countered by asking the ‘sharks’ to lower their ask to 4%. They also asked if all three of them would be interested in partnering up. Their final offer was Rs 2 crore for 6%, which Paurav accepted after trying and failing to negotiate some more.
