Diya Aur Baati Hum actor Deepika Singh refuses to play Kapil Sharma’s wife

Deepika Singh, who played Sandhya in Diya Aur Baati Hum is facing a dispute with the show's makers over dues worth Rs. 1.14 crore. She wants to clear that before signing The Kapil Sharma Show.

Deepika Singh, who played Sandhya in Diya Aur Baati Hum has turned down the offer of playing the wife of Rajesh Arora in The Kapil Sharma SHow.

Comedian Kapil Sharma might be single in real life, but his onscreen family is only expanding by the day. However, ever since his popular show Comedy Nights With Kapil switched channels and became The Kapil Sharma Show, the slot for his onstage wife has remained empty. Of course, we did miss seeing actor Sumona Chakravarti play his wife from his earlier show but understanding she couldn’t reprise the role in the show’s second innings, the show’s makers have been on a look-out for someone to play Kapil’s wife. Last we heard, Diya Aur Baati Hum actor Deepika Singh had been approached for the role. But the latest reports claim she has declined the offer.

Popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum had made Deepika’s character of Sandhya a household name. But ever since the show went off air in September this year, Deepika’s fans have been eagerly waiting for her next announcement. Deepika was in talks to become the onscreen wife of Rajesh Arora, played by Kapil Sharma himself. But her refusal to take up the part has nothing to do with the comedy show. In fact, the reason is her previous soap.

Apparently, the producers of Diya Aur Baati Hum are yet to clear the dues of Deepika, which amount to around Rs. 1.14 crore. Reportedly, getting this money is Deepika’s priority before she signs on her next project. The 27-year-old actor is currently fighting a dispute with the show’s makers.

Whether or not Deepika will be seen playing Kapil’s wife is yet to be seen. We wonder if she can fit into the shoes of Sumona and have a similar crackling chemistry with her onscreen husband. We would still love to see Kapil and Sumona indulging in some funny fights on the show.
