Nearly eight months after its 15th season concluded, the popular television game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) is returning for its 16th season, with Bollywood’s Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan making a comeback yet again as the host.

One of India’s most beloved TV game shows, KBC is the official Hindi adaptation of the ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ franchise. According to reports, the showrunners have introduced new elements into KBC this time that are sure to heat things up on the hot seat.

Hosting KBC keeps me connected to my fans whom I consider my extended family,” host Bachchan said in a statement, news agency IANS reported. “Season 16, reflecting the spirit of modern India, continues to celebrate knowledge as a leveller and we hope to offer viewers an even more enriching and thrilling viewing experience,” he added.

Amitabh Bachchan explained that his long-standing commitment to the show is driven by the inspiring stories of contestants from diverse backgrounds, who, despite facing hardships, remain positive and ambitious.

When and where to watch Amitabh Bachchan-hosted KBC 16?

The show, which debuted on July 3, 2000, marking Amitabh Bachchan’s first appearance on television, is gearing up for the commencement of its 16th season. KBC 16 will air on Sony TV starting August 12, every Monday to Friday at 9 pm and will also be available for streaming on the OTT platform SonyLIV at the same time.

What’s new in the 16th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati?

KBC 16 will introduce some new elements into the game, including an intriguing segment termed the ‘super-twist,’ and a new addition called ‘Dugnastra,’ where a contestant’s winning amount can be doubled.

This season, the makers have introduced a bonus question called the Super Sawaal. This question will appear after the contestant successfully answers the fifth question in the first lap of the game.

For this question, the contestant will neither have any options nor be allowed to use any lifelines. If they answer correctly, they can use the power called Dugnastra to multiply the winning amount of a particular question in the second lap of the game (between questions 6 and 10). If successful, the bonus amount won will be added to their total winnings at the end of the game.
