What started as a film that was to be made as a quickie turned out to be a two-part movie that took up a couple of years of Vetrimaaran’s life. There can be no doubt that Viduthalai was an important film in the careers of many who were involved in the movie. Right from Vetri Maaran himself to actors like Soori, who was launched as a lead hero with this film, and has left his career as a comedian in the past. Backed by Elred Kumar’s RS Infotainment, Viduthalai became a landmark movie, and the second part of the film, which was released in December last year completed 25 days in theatres. In a statement from the makers, they said that Viduthalai Part 2 was a ‘resounding success… and it has turned out to be a profitable venture.’ Now, the makers have also announced their upcoming slate, which includes the much-awaited reunion of Dhanush and Vetrimaaran.
The makers revealed that Vetrimaaran’s ninth directorial will be fronted by Dhanush, marking their fifth collaboration as a filmmaker and an actor after Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai, and Asuran. The producers also shared that they are backing Soori’s next with Mathimaran Pugazhenthi, an erstwhile assistant of Vetrimaaran. Soori, who was last seen in Kottukkaali, has an interesting lineup of films, including Vilangu director Prasath Pandiyaraj’s next.
Here’s the post:
Since the makers revealed that the Vetrimaaran and Dhanush project would be the filmmaker’s ninth directorial, it lead to the understanding that Suriya’s Vaadivaasal might be the Viduthalai maker’s next project. Meanwhile, Dhanush too has a handful of films, including his own directorial Idli Kadai, Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, and movies with directors Rajkumar Periasamy, Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, Aanand L Rai, and a speculated Hollywood project.
On the other hand, Suriya, who has completed filming for Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro, and is currently working on RJ Balaji’s Suriya 45, hasn’t confirmed any other project.
