Thani Oruvan, directed by Mohan Raja, changed the career graph of his brother Jayam Ravi, who played the protagonist of the film. It became the biggest hit in the actor’s career. The slick action thriller also marked the comeback of actor Arvind Swami, who played the antagonist named Siddharth Abhimanyu. While a second part to Thani Oruvan was inevitable given its success, the question was when the brothers were going to take the plunge, and now, we have an answer to that. Mohan Raja and Jayam Ravi, with a promo video, recently announced Thani Oruvan 2 and revealed how it is going to be different from the first part.
In the first part of the film, Jayam Ravi played the role of Mithran IPS, a righteous cop, who hunts down a demonic villain. He makes the mission the purpose of his life and goes to extreme lengths to achieve it. In the promo for Thani Oruvan 2, Mohan Raja reveals that this time the villain will come looking for Mithran creating intrigue. The success of Thani Oruvan was mostly due to the antagonist Siddharth Abhimanyu, and it has to be seen if Mohan Raja will come up with an equally well-written character for the sequel.
Thani Oruvan 2 will be produced by AGS Entertainment. The shoot of the film is expected to begin soon.
