Gold Rate Today:  Gold prices in India touched a new record high on Monday across 24 carats, 22 carats, and 18 carats.

Continuing its upward momentum from yesterday, gold prices in India edged higher today on Thursday, December 18.

According to a Goldman Sachs report, around 70% of global institutional investors expect gold prices to rise further next year.

However, in India, the prices of gold have seen significant volatility, as after surging to an all-time high, it witnessed a decline last month. It is considered an ideal inflation hedge.

Gold rate in India today, on December 18 (INR):

Today, the price of 24-karat gold rose by ₹33 to ₹13,484 per gram, while 22-karat gold increased by ₹30 to ₹12,360 per gram. Meanwhile, 18-karat gold also registered a gain of ₹25, trading at ₹10,113 per gram.

24-carat gold is the most expensive form of gold and is commonly used for investment purposes, while 22-carat gold and 18-carat gold are primarily utilised for jewellery.
