R Parthiban backs Ajith’s comments on Karur stampede, calls for collective responsibility: ‘Let us not politicize these things’
R Parthiban backed Ajith Kumar’s remarks on the collective responsibility surrounding the Karur stampede, emphasizing that Vijay should not be blamed alone for the tragedy.
R Parthiban backs Ajith Kumar’s statements highlighting the collective responsibility aspect of the Karur stampede incident.R Parthiban has reacted to Ajith’s statement that the Karur stampede represents a broader collective failure involving fans, the media, the film industry, and society, not Vijay alone.
In an interview with THR, Ajith said, “There’s so much happening in Tamil Nadu today because of the stampede that happened. That individual alone is not responsible. We are all responsible for it. Even the media has a part to play in this.”
He added, “Today, as a society, we have all become obsessed with gathering a crowd to show our power. All this has to end. Yes, you have crowds going to cricket matches, but why is it not happening there, right? Why is this happening only to celebrities and film personalities? The media should not encourage all this first day first-day-first-show crowds. Tearing down seats in the theatres, tearing down projection screens, destroying theatre seats, how long will all this go on?”
R Parthiban supported Ajith Kumar’s statements and said, “The major reason for what Ajith said is that these activities like destroying theatre seats, overcrowding in the name of first day first show, and in the name of cinema need not be continued after the stampede in Karur. All viewpoints should be respected, and I believe what Ajith said should also be respected.”
He added, “What Ajith said is that only Vijay should not be made the sole person responsible for the incident. He was talking about collective responsibility. That is what we need to understand from his statement.”
Parthiban concluded his statement by observing, “Let us not politicize these things and focus on the important thing being said. The 41 lives lost in that stampede, we will never get back, no matter how much crores we pay, so let us ensure that no such thing will happen again.”
