Karthi is the biggest success story of Tamil cinema in the recent times. Since 2022, the actor has been churning out only hits. He has a hat-trick victory last year with the films Viruman, Sardar, and Ponniyin Selvan 2. And he opened his account this year with the success of Ponniyin Selvan 2, which has raked in Rs 200 crore in a matter of four days. A recent picture of the actor with his fans from Japan hints that the Tamil star has been garnering fans beyond the Indian borders as well.
In the picture, which has gone viral among fans of Karthi, the actor is seen with a couple of fans from Japan, who had travelled from their home country to Chennai to watch Ponniyin Selvan 2. Karthi is also seen exchanging presents with them in a picture.

Karthi played the role of Vallavarayan Vandhiyadhevan, the leader of a small clan, which was once part of the Chola kingdom. According to historical evidence, Vandhiyadhevan married the princess of the Chola empire Kundhavai Devi aka Ilayapiratti. In the film, Vandhiyadhevan plays a pivotal role in moving the story forward. It was a much-coveted role as even MG Ramachandran, Sivaji, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan wanted to play the role.
Karthi got emotional while bidding goodbye to his team of PS during the final leg of promotions in Mumbai. He will next start work on his upcoming film called Japan, which is directed by Rajumurugan. It is rumoured that Karthi will be playing a dual role in the film, which is expected to be a heist thriller.
