The singer’s son Micah, who was at the home when the fatal incident took place, was taken into custody without incident. It is still not known whether Micah has an attorney. Police recovered a weapon and it remains unclear what led to the stabbing of Sykes.
In a press release, police said, “The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. The suspect will be booked for homicide, and the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.”
A spokesperson for the Santa Monica Police Department, Lt. However, the police have not determined if his mental illness played any role in the attack.
