Bhavana floored by Ajith’s gesture: ‘I am happy he still remembers me after so many years’
In a recent interview with a Tamil magazine, Bhavana spoke about her friendship with Ajith, who was her co-star in 2010 film Asal.

Malayalam actor Bhavana was once a very busy star in the Tamil film industry before taking a break from Kollywood. Now, she is all set to make her return to Tamil cinema with the film The Door, directed by her brother Jaiiddev in his debut. The movie recently went on floors in Chennai, and in an interview with a popular Tamil magazine, Bhavana said that it doesn’t feel like she has been away from the Tamil film industry for the past 13 years. She also shared her experience of meeting Ajith recently, who was the co-star in her last Tamil film Asal.
“It feels like I have been part of this industry all this while. My last film in Tamil was with Ajith sir, Asal. It came out in 2010. After that, I started doing many Malayalam and Kannada films, and I was waiting for a good role in Tamil. The break from Tamil was not a planned one,” Bhavana said.
She didn’t expect that her return to the Tamil industry will be through her brother’s film. “Even this is incidental,” she adds. Bhavana was also asked whether she is still in touch with Ajith Kumar. The actor said, “I can never forget the experience of shooting for Asal. I participated only in the Malaysia schedule. Ajith was an affable person. He used to take care of everyone with love and affection.”
Bhavana added, “Recently, during the shoot of Thunivu, he had asked Manju Warrier about my well-being and had said he wanted to talk to me. Manju chechi (sister) tried calling me but she couldn’t reach my number. Later, when she again called me, I was in Chennai. As the shooting (of Thunivu) was also in Chennai, I went to meet Ajith sir in person. We spoke about a lot of things. Ajith sir, Manju chechi, and I had lunch together. I shared the photo from the meeting on Instagram on his birthday. Asal came out so long ago, and it is heartening that he still remembers me and wished me the best. He didn’t have to do all this. That’s why he is being celebrated by all.”
Meanwhile, The Door, which will also be released in Malayalam, will be out this year. Other than Bhavana, it has Ganesh Venkatraman and Sriranjani in pivotal roles. Varun Unni is composing the songs and background score.
