Prakash Raj: Vested interests trying to derail #MeToo movement
Prakash Raj requested senior members of the film fraternity to step in and put an end to the ongoing controversy around Sruthi Hariharan's allegations against Arjun Sarja.

Actor Prakash Raj on Thursday issued a strongly-worded statement on the controversy over #MeToo stories in the Kannada film industry. In a tweet, written in Kannada, the National Award-winning actor claimed some vested interests were trying to derail the #MeToo movement.
Prakash was reacting to his earlier statement expressing solidarity with Sruthi Hariharan, who has accused actor Arjun Sarja of misconduct. He had said there was nothing wrong in Arjun apologising to her. And his opinion on the matter did not go down well with many in the industry and fans.
“Arjun is my long-time friend and a fellow traveller. I know him better than all of you,” he said while clarifying his stance on the controversy. “I did not make any mindless accusations against him. I am not the one who indulges in meaningless talk about a person.”

“Sruthi is not an opportunist like everyone says. She is very talented and a strong woman. Like all of us, even she was nurtured by the same society,” he said reasserting his support to her.

Prakash Raj said that both Arjun Sarja and Sruthi Hariharan as separate individuals have a lot to achieve in their careers. He asked people to be sensitive to the #MeToo stories and requested the senior members of the film fraternity to step in and put an end to the ongoing controversy. “The elders of the industry should immediately arrange a meeting between both (Arjun and Sruthi) and discuss the issue without any bias,” he added.
