Kannada star Shivarajkumar’s next titled SRK

He is one of the busiest actors in Kannada cinema as he does an average of five films a year even at 56.

Talking about the title of the film, SRK (which is a popular acronym for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan), Shivarajkumar said he was hesitant to keep that title at first. However, he said, Lakki convinced him that it was a suitable name for their venture. “The title can be interpreted in multiple ways. It can mean even, ‘Simple, Ruling, King,” the actor said while trying to explain the rationale behind the film’s name. The actor is also known as SRK (Shivarajkumar) of Kannada film industry among his fans.

Lakki said it is his dream debut as he has worked over two years on the script. He has worked as assistant director for films like Siddhartha, Run Antony and Doddamane Huduga and Tagaru.

Shivarajkumar plays a role called Raj in the film that revolves around a dance master, whose peaceful life is disturbed by unexpected incidents. The women’s safety issue is said to be at the heart of the story. Another specialty of SRK is that the film is bankrolled by fans of Shivarajkumar.

Kiran Kumar C Gowda and Aravind B Gowda, self-attested die-hard fans of Shivarajkumar, will be venturing into the showbiz as producers with SRK. The film is produced under KK Productions banner.

Composer Ajaneesh Lokanath of Kirik Party fame will be composing the tunes for the film, while director Chethan Kumar will be writing dialogues.

Shivarajkumar is also busy with various upcoming projects. He is also shooting for The Villian, in which he shares screen space with another Kannada star Sudeep. The film, which is directed by Prem, also has actor Amy Jackson as the female lead and is being made on a lavish budget.
