Ghost first glimpse: Shivarajkumar’s next looks like another KGF-wannabe

Yash-starrer KGF’s earth-shattering success also has a negative outcome. Every star and director across film industries wants to emulate the film and its success. Earlier, Upendra’s Kabzaa turned out to be a wannabe KGF and failed to impress the audience. Except for the set design, Kabzaa lacked a proper story and emotional hook to make the film work. The movie ended with the introduction of Shivrajkumar’s character leaving fans excited. It is unknown what the Kannada actor is up to in the Kabzaa universe. However, even before Kabzaa 2, Shivanna has come up with his own KGF-ish film titled Ghost.

The first glimpse of the movie, titled Ghost-Bigg Daddy is Born, has a heavy KGF hangover. It features a foreign crew moving towards a target. While the crew sounds confident and tells its commander that the job will be done in ten minutes, he replies that the previous team said that it would finish the job in five but never returned. The team then surrounds Shivanna, who is eating pani puri with a twist. Instead of pani, the Kannada star uses alcohol. He is not perturbed by the gunmen but flicks a cigarette that lights up a structure behind him–which is revealed to be a tanker.  Shiva calls himself OG, short for Original Gangster.

The over-the-top promo is, however, a hit among the Kannada star’s fans raking in thousands of views in a matter of a few minutes since its release.

Ghost is directed by MG Srinivas and it is set in the same universe as his earlier film Birbal Trilogy Case 1: Finding Vajramuni. The description of Ghost reads, “This action-packed heist thriller, directed by Srini, tells the story of one man’s quest for justice.” The movie, also starring Anupam Kher, Jayaram, Prashanth Narayan, Archana Jois, Satyaprakash and Dattanna, will be released on this year’s Dasara.
