Viral Reddit post parodies LinkedIn with ‘Girlfriend’ job listing in Gurgaon

While many Redditors quickly noticed the satire, others called out the post.

A Reddit post recently went viral after a user playfully blurred the lines between professional networking and modern dating sites, sharing screenshots that looked like a ‘Girlfriend’ LinkedIn profile.

The post, uploaded to r/IndianWorkplace under the title “Every app is a dating app if you’re Indian enough,” reposts a standard LinkedIn job listing, but with a twist.

Instead of advertising a corporate role, the “job” being offered is for a “Girlfriend.” The screenshot shows a full-time hybrid position based in Gurgaon, Haryana, complete with a formal description, required qualifications, and even an “Easy Apply” button.

According to the listing, the responsibilities of a “Girlfriend” include “nurturing and maintaining a strong emotional connection,” engaging in meaningful conversations, offering companionship and mutual support, and participating in shared hobbies or activities.

The post emphasises that “active communication, respect, and understanding will form the foundation of this role,” alongside collaborative decision-making and fostering a positive, supportive relationship.

The qualifications section keeps up the corporate parody, highlighting traits such as strong emotional intelligence, active listening, and empathy, along with the ability to collaborate, adapt, and compromise. The “ideal candidate” is also expected to have a sense of humour, kindness, honesty, and mutual respect, balance personal and shared goals, and show interest in joint hobbies or exploring new experiences together.

The original poster also issued a clarification in the comment section .“Just to clarify this isn’t my post, and I’m not that desperate to go job-hunting for a girlfriend on LinkedIn. I just found it hilariously unhinged.”

What really pushed the post into viral territory was how convincingly it imitated a professional LinkedIn listing, down to the Gurgaon location tag, hybrid work setup, and overall layout.

Redditors quickly noticed the satire, laughing at how familiar the corporate language felt, despite the absurdity of the role. Many drew parallels between networking platforms, dating apps, and matrimony services, joking that in real life, they often overlap anyway.

One user quipped, “7 application already.” Another added, “He has not mentioned what he has to offer, same as the companies that dont reveal everything lol.”

However, many called out the post.

A user wrote, “If stupidity has a face.” Another user asked, “Why does linkedin allow anybody to randomly post jobs?”

A third individual added, “Any app is a dating app for Indians.”
