Singer Sara Bareilles’s new musical “Waitress” is poised to make Broadway history with the first-ever all-female creative team.

When the musical adaptation of Keri Russell’s 2007 film premieres at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in April next year, it will mark the first Broadway musical in which a traditional four-person team of book writer, songwriter, choreographer and director are all female artists, reported Entertainment Weekly.

“Waitress” features music and lyrics by “Brave” singer/songwriter Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro, and direction from Tony winner Diane Paulus.

“It’s a historic and long overdue moment for Broadway. And I’m honored to be working alongside such passionate and inspiring women,” Paulus said in a statement.

The only other similar feat is from 1978 Broadway musical “Runaways”, which had music, lyrics, choreography and direction from Elizabeth Swados.
