Far Gone

An almost novel way of looking at a serial killer,Gone has the saucer-eyed Amanda Seyfried as the girl who could have been abducted and almost murdered by one of them,but has trouble making anyone believe that. However,once you learn to look past Seyfried’s eyes and her whole lost-girl appearance,Gone is quickly revealed to be out of ideas about how to take this story where it hasn’t gone before.

For most part of the film,Seyfried as Jill is driving around town in a succession of cars looking for her sister Molly,who disappeared one night just before her final exam. Jill is convinced the same serial killer who had grabbed her got Molly,but since the cops suspect the first one was made up by her,her fears are laughed off.

So Jill trusts her instincts,a string of made-up stories and a flimsy revolver to track down her guy inside a deep,5,000-acre forest even as the cops fail to locate her. It ends with a long conversation between her and the killer. Somebody does mention that she has an iPhone and a GPRS,but adding two and two belongs to a better film. That would require more logic than this film can rustle up.
