Malayalam industry actor Priya Prakash Varrier rose to instant national fame when a clip of her then upcoming film Oru Adaar Love was released. The actor's wink became fodder for several social media reels and memes. Recently, the actor claimed that it was her idea to add the wink in the 2019 film, but this hasn't gone down well with the film's director, Omar Lulu. Priya, in an interview with Pearle Maaney, said that she improvised the wink in the film's song "Manikya Malaraya Poovi." Omar took to his social media and shared a sarcastic post. He posted an old interview clip of Priya, in which she said that she was asked to wink. He captioned the post, "Poor child must have forgotten for 5 years. Valiya Chandanaadi is the best for memory loss." Fans seemed to support Omar in the comments section. One person wrote, "Once you are famous, it is my input. But if it is bad, it is director's input," while another one commented, "Don't forget the path you took to reach where you are today." The song's video has almost 971,000 likes and over 107 million views on YouTube. The film also starred Roshan Abdul Rahoof in the lead role. In an earlier interview with the indianexpress.com, Priya had spoken about becoming famous overnight. She said, "Though I am enjoying this new-found fame, I never thought a wink would become such a big deal. Till this date, I don’t know how it went viral. It was a tiny video, after all. In fact, that was ‘okayed’ in the first take. The director asked me to give some cute expressions, and I went with the flow. I wonder what people saw in that wink that they admired so much. Even today, wherever I go, they ask me to wink. I don’t get irritated, but feel bored. I think I would have winked at least 200 times on request."
