Malayalam actor Mohan Raj passes away
Known for his antagonist roles throughout his career in Malayalam, Mohan Raj has also starred in Tamil and Telugu films.
Actor Mohan Raj passes away.Actor Mohan Raj, who shot to fame playing the antagonist ‘Keerikkadan Jose’ in Sibi Malayil’s Kireedam (1989), passed away on Thursday. A veteran of over 300 films, Mohanraj had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and diabetes, and had moved to Thiruvananthapuram for Ayurvedic treatment. He reportedly passed away at his residence in the city.
Known for his antagonist roles throughout his career, Mohan Raj has also starred in Tamil and Telugu films. In the later stage of his career, he even tried his hand at roles that tapped into his comic flair, and played starring roles in television serials.
Having made his debut with the 1988 Mohanlal-starrer Moonam Mura, Mohan Raj starred in many Mohanlal and Mammootty films. In fact, the actor’s last on screen appearance was in the 2022 Mammootty movie Rorschach.
Some of his notable films include Mimics Parade (1991), Uppukandam Brothers (1993), Hitler (1996), Aaraam Thampuran (1997), Pathram (1999), Narasimham (2000), Mayavi (2007) and Hallo (2007).
After news of Mohan Raj’s demise emerged, many netizens reminisced about the wonderful roles essayed by the actor in his 34-year-old career. Visuals from his performances in iconic films like Kireedam, Chenkol, Uppukandam Brothers, Mayavi, and Hello have been doing the rounds on social media.
Mohan Raj is survived by his wife, Usha, and their two daughters, Jaishma and Kaaviya.
