Idaho Murders convict Bryan Kohberger’s eerie prison video leaks with red-stained hands, sparks investigation
A chilling leaked video shows Idaho killer Bryan Kohberger pacing in his prison cell with red hands, sparking a probe security breach.

A leaked video of Bryan Kohberger from Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Kuna has sparked a new probe after eerie details stirred chaos inside the prison. The convicted killer of four University of Idaho students was seen pacing back and forth, placing an item on a shelf inside his cell. Prison officials have since responded to the footage.
Bryan Kohberger’s prison video leaks
The short clip, about ten seconds long, mysteriously surfaced on social media on Thursday. The video shows Kohberger in his prison cell wearing his inmate uniform. He walks toward a wire rack, cautiously places something down, then stares at his red hands before standing awkwardly in place. Once a psychology graduate with a master’s in criminal justice, Bryan is now serving life without parole for the brutal stabbings of University of Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Madison Mogen. Prison staff say his hands look worn from obsessively washing them dozens of times a day.

“We are aware of the videos circulating online and are investigating the matter,” the Department of Corrections released a statement on social media addressing the concerns. “While we cannot yet confirm the veracity of the videos, if verified, they are a clear violation of IDOC policy and the parties responsible will be held accountable, up to and including termination.”
In another leaked clip, Bryan is seen in the middle of the cell cleaning his shoes slowly, without saying a word. The video didn’t come from prison officials and is believed to have been filmed through the surveillance screen with a cellphone, which is a serious violation of prison rules. Authorities say they are now investigating how the video got out. IDOC said they can’t yet confirm if the footage is real. According to them, it could even be fake or digitally modified. But if it’s real, the staff responsible could lose their jobs or even face criminal charges.

This comes just weeks after the Department of Corrections warned all employees, reminding them not to leak or share prison security footage. Now, with this leak going public, the department says “safety and security” of staff and inmates is their top concern. “Videotaping and publicly sharing security footage is prohibited conduct, and we will be reviewing all legal options, including criminal prosecution.”
Bryan, 30, is serving four life sentences. The students were stabbed to death in their vacation house in Moscow, Idaho, a crime that shocked the nation. While there have been multiple theories about the crime and motive, Bryan, during the sentencing, denied saying anything about the allegations. His trial was supposed to begin this year, but he shocked everyone by accepting a plea deal, which saved him from the death penalty. That move angered the victims’ families, who were left without answers about why he committed the murders. Inside prison, Bryan is being kept in J Block, single cells reserved for high-risk inmates who are usually locked up 23 hours a day with just one hour of outdoor time
