Extraction 2 director Sam Hargrave reveals Chris Hemsworth ‘does 99 percent of his action stuff’
Packed with high-octane action sequences and edge-of-the-seat moments, Extraction 2 features Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa in the lead roles.

A sequel to the 2020 film Extraction, the screenplay for the latest flick is written by Joe Russo, based on the graphic novel Ciudad.
Packed with high-octane action sequences and edge-of-the-seat moments, Extraction 2 features Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa in the lead roles. Now, Sam Hargrave himself has opened up about the incredibly demanding nature of the massive action sequences in the film, which proved to be a significant challenge for Hemsworth. Pointing out that most of the harrowing scenes were actually performed by Hemsworth himself instead of relying on stunt doubles, the director noted that there were only a few parts where Hemsworth didn’t perform his own stunt.
“Hemsworth does 99% of his action stuff. Only when it’s repetitive or too dangerous because it’s a long haul for him. It’s a marathon. Whenever possible, he’s doing the action,” Hargrave said during an interview with The Wrap.
Earlier this month, the streaming giant announced that the work on Extraction 3 is underway. In December 2020, the Russo brothers expressed their plan to build an entire cinematic universe from Extraction.
During a conversation with Collider, Joe and Anthony Russo talked about the potential development of future projects in the franchise. “I will say this, we are working at building out a universe of films that could potentially explore some of the other characters from the first movie and some new characters, and see more historical interaction between the characters,” Joe admitted. “So if you’re interested in David Harbour’s character, you just may get to see him in a future Extraction movie.”
In his review of Extraction 2, indianexpress.com’s Rohan Naahar had pointed out that the film “is a more sprawling experience as compared to the relatively lean first movie, but like most part twos, it isn’t nearly as satisfying.”
