Will Asin-Genelia rivalry affect ‘Bol Bachchan’?

The two southern stars, who share a rivalry akin to Priyanka and Kareena in Bollywood, have been cast together.

Director Rohit Shetty may have just pulled a casting coup of sorts by bringing together Asin and Genelia D’ Souza for the first time together in a Hindi film with ‘Bol Bachchan’. Rest assured,he may have well have some nervous moments ahead for him with the threat of off-screen rivalry looming large.

“It is a known fact that down South,Asin and Genelia are closest rivals. Both have been around for close to a decade and have a definite place for themselves and number of hits”,sources said.

Rest assured,it would be interesting to see how these two young women interact during the making of this Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan starrer which is said to be inspired from ‘Golmaal’ (Amol Palekar- Bindiya Goswami).

“In Bollywood too they have been trying to create space for themselves”,continues the source,”Genelia has been around for quite some time but though ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Naa’ was a huge success, her progress was halted with both ‘Hook Ya Crook’ and ‘It’s My Life’ being stuck for ages now. On the other hand,Asin has tasted success all over again with Ready being second next blockbuster after ‘Ghajini’ though ‘London Dreams’ was a huge disappointment.”

Now that’s a point that Genelia would certainly note because she is the original ‘Ready’ girl.

Another actor from the region informs,”The kind of competition that Asin and Genelia have down South is akin to that of Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in Bollywood. Now imagine Kareena and Priyanka coming together in full fledge role for a movie? There would be fireworks na? It may just be the same for ‘Bol Bachchan’ as well.”

Well,we do remember Kareena and Priyanka coming together in ‘Aitraaz’ and what happens then has well been recorded in history books. With Asin and Genelia in ‘Bol Bachchan’,it may just be time for some ‘action replay’ soon.
