Jin Goo’s name emerges in Rs 390 crore fraud case, actor’s agency denies involvement

South Korean actor Jin Goo has found himself embroiled in controversy as he is allegedly being linked to a financial fraud scam amounting to 14.2 billion won (approximately Rs 390 crore). However, Jin Goo’s management agency, VARO, has denied all the accusations, stating that the actor has no involvement in the case.

According to reports from Soompi, an anonymous party ‘A’ has been charged with committing fraud while operating a mom cafe since November 2019. This party reportedly has connections to celebrities, including Jin Goo. VARO Entertainment, in an official statement released on July 18, has refuted any connection between Jin Goo and the case.

The agency’s statement reads, “Hello. This is actor Jin Goo’s agency VARO Entertainment. We want to inform you our stance which follows as below regarding today’s report about Jin Goo. First, [Jin Goo] had overlapping acquaintances with the person who was arrested, so he only had a few encounters with them, but we would like to clarify that there were no business connections at all, let alone any financial transactions. Regarding the fraud committed by the person involved in the case, Jin Goo also learned of the relevant incident through the press, and we have not received any contact from relevant authorities regarding this. Please refrain from extrapolative interpretations as well as speculative reports and comments unrelated to the truth. Thank you.”

Jin Goo was last seen in the K-drama series A Superior Day. The show revolves around a firefighter whose peaceful life takes a turn when he is assigned the task of eliminating a serial killer. Jin Goo is also known for his notable performances in projects such as Descendants of the Sun, The Witch Part 2: The Other One and Night Light.
