Though YNB 2,written by Rakesh Dhawan,has been produced by Dreamers Production,the same team that worked on the first edition,Samit Brar takes over as the director with a new lead actor. “YNB 2 is a namesake. Ideally,if the film had the original star cast,then it would be a sequel in all aspects. Nevertheless,this is big move for Punjabi cinema and,because YNB was a hit,the sequel will attract crowds,” feels Singh who directed the original.

Brar,who has been the co-producer in hits such as Jee Aayan Nu,Asan Nu Maan Watana Daa and YNB,is making his debut as a director with YNB 2. “It is a college romance once again,” says the lead actor Rajwinder Sumal. Though a romcom,YNB 2 is unlike the current crop of Punjabi films that revolves around NRI or campus love stories with sub-plots involving drugs and guns.

“It is a film that talks positively about Punjab’s youth,” says Sumal. Although he’s a well-known face in the Punjabi film circuit,the actor admits he’s “re-launching himself” with YNB 2. “In the Punjabi films Mehndi Waaley Hath and Channa Sachi Muchi,I was Goldy Sumal but with this film,I am introducing myself with my real name,Rajwinder Sumal,” says the actor ,in his twenties.

After YNB 2,Sumal will be seen in Goodnight,a Bollywood thriller with actors Kumar Gaurav,Kay Kay and Ashmit Patel,followed by a youth film,Jeet Lenge Jahaan.

Apart from Sumal,YNB 2 also stars Yograj Singh,Shivinder Mahal,Rishita Monga and Vikramjeet Virk. Will it live up to its predecessor’s success?
