Zayed Khan recalls time spent with Shah Rukh Khan during Main Hoon Na shoot: ‘He hated that I used to beat him in FIFA 2000’
In a new interview, Zayed Khan revealed how Shah Rukh Khan would not let him sleep until he beat him in FIFA 2000 video game post pack up during the shoot of Main Hoon Na.

Zayed Khan, who shared screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in his second film Main Hoon Na, recently shared some fond memories of working with the Pathaan star. For Zayed, Shah Rukh is an ‘ocean of insight’ and someone who is always ‘well-prepared’. In a recent interview, the 44-year-old actor also revealed how SRK helped him prepare for a long monologue he had to shoot for the 2004 film.
In the interview with Rohit Roy for RiteBite Maz Protein TV, Zayed shared his experience of working with SRK and said, “Shah Rukh Khan is well-prepared. He is an ocean of insight. When you are with him, you don’t feel that he is pressurising you to perform as well as he is. What he is doing is, he is always observing and he is giving you his best back.”
“There was this lovely moment, when I was doing this scene where I had to give this long monologue when SRK’s character comes and he has a father and I don’t. It was my first time that I was doing a scene with Kirron Kher and Shah Rukh Khan. Farah was helming the film, Manikandan was taking care of the camera. I messed it up about three times. When you mess up a dialogue or scene, you can see the energy drop, As if people are losing hope and faith in you”, he added.
Zayed further recalled, “I remember, Shah Rukh Khan came to me very sweetly. He said, ‘You want to do the lines and rehearse with me?’ I said, ‘Yeah man, I would really like that.’ And, we went to a room and so sweetly, he rehearsed with me and I came out there. He said, ‘Just do it your way, don’t do it the filmy way. And I went out there, I started to gain goosebumps and I went for it. I remember after the shot got cut, everyone went quiet and then they started clapping.”
In the same interview, Zayed Khan recalled how Shah Rukh Khan wouldn’t let him sleep until he beat him in the FIFA game. He said, “We used to play video games. He is a full on game geek. He used to hate the fact that I used to beat him in FIFA 2000. At night, after pack up, we used to play the whole time. He would make me play until he won.”
When asked what was the one thing he learnt from the superstar, Zayed said, “He has taught me a lesson in life. As actors, we tend to be very competitive. There is this very healthy competition about dialogues, directors, camera, lighting. With Shah Rukh Khan, he taught me you should prepare for everything ahead and behind the scene. He said, ‘Don’t be in this competitive mode. Set up a situation in such a way that even if you are annoying someone, you should know how they are going to react and for their reaction you need to keep at least three reactions ready in your head. So this removes the competitiveness and just keeps you prepared.'”
