(Photo: Instagram/Yuvika Chaudhary)TV actors Yuvika Chaudhary and Prince Narula welcomed their daughter, Ekleen, in 2024 through IVF. Though the couple were over the moon to welcome their daughter, Yuvika’s IVF journey was anything but easy. In a recent interaction, she revealed that her IVF journey lasted for three years before she successfully conceived.
Speaking to Hauterfly, Yuvika admitted that she faced pressure to have kids after years of marriage with Prince. “I wanted kids the most, and it was because of the pressure that I faced and I shouldn’t have taken that. Prince was more relaxed.”
The TV actor also shared how she first met with the wrong doctor, whose advice didn’t just cost her Rs 2-2.5 lakh but also caused a lot of physical and mental stress. She recalled a doctor blindly telling her that she couldn’t become a mother and that she needed donor eggs. “She told me you can’t become a mother, and that I will need to take eggs from a donor as the quality of your eggs is not good. I was like what is this?”
She added, “I was 38 at that time and thought ye kya ho gaya. I didn’t have any knowledge about it. The doctor had pulled my morale down that I started doubting myself. I started panicking and my confidence was zero.”
Talking about the cost of IVF, she said, “It costed Rs 2-2.5 lakh in the first pick up with the wrong doctor. You get injections on your thighs and stomach every day, and during this time, you have to be calm mentally.” For the unversed, “pick up” in IVF refers to a minor medical procedure to collect mature eggs from a woman’s ovaries.
While Yuvika was going through the procedure, she backed out after the doctor refused to take responsibility before giving her anesthesia. She said, “Finally, on the day of the pick up, they were about to give me anesthesia, and they said that we are not responsible if you don’t come in normal senses after this. Then Prince and I decided to leave it and the Rs 2.5 lakh was a waste.” She had given up working at the time and says was in a tough place mentally.
Yuvika recalled meeting another doctor and how she gained confidence when she got a second opinion. “IVF is a scam. There are so many centres. People don’t know where to go,” she said. “I spent 2-3 years in this because I had taken breaks in between,” she said. She also shared that after four pick ups, she was finally able to conceive. She credits the second doctor for helping her regain her confidence and becoming a mother.
