When Ajay Devgn was arrested for the possession of ‘weapons’; police did not believe they were props for dad Veeru Devgn

Vindu Dara Singh recently took a trip down memory lane and recalled how he and Ajay Devgn were arrested by the police during Holi many years ago. Vindu explained that Ajay and their group of friends wanted to grab some drinks, and they drove to a liquor store to buy them. But they got into trouble when the police stopped them, and found ‘weapons’ in the boot of their car. Even though Vindu explained to the cops that these were props for a film that Ajay’s father, action director Veeru Devgan, was working on, the police hauled them to the station.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Vindu said, “It was a Holi party, and we were in college. Ajay Devgn was driving the jeep, and he said, ‘Let’s go to Bandra’. So we went to Bandra, and while going to Carter Road, we felt like drinking beer. We were four or five guys who got off and went inside the wine shop, bought the beer and came back. The police van was right there, and the police were looking at us like, ‘Who are these guys in the jeep?’”

He explained that the police asked where they were going and who owned the jeep. They also found some ‘swords’ and hockey equipment, which made them very suspicious. The actor continued, “They arrested us. One of the guys said, ‘Sir, he is fight master Veeru Devgn’s son. This guy is Dara Singh’s son. When two to three times the same names were taken, the police asked us to call Randhawa’s son to the station, who was a wrestler.”

Vindu said that they called him (Randhawa’s son) urgently, and upon his arrival, the police were surprised to discover that they were telling the truth. The police then released Ajay, Vindu and the others.
