(Photo: Vijay Antony/Instagram) Popular music composer and actor Vijay Antony’s daughter will be cremated in Chennai on Wednesday, a day after she allegedly died by suicide. The class 12 student of a popular private school in the city was found dead in her room around 3 am, the police said.
Vijay Antony soon rushed her to the nearby private hospital where she was declared dead on arrival, the police added. According to an India Today report, the 16-year-old’s mortal remains will be taken to a church and after the prayer services, she will be cremated at the Kilpauk cemetery in the city.
Several names from the Tamil film industry offered their condolences, including music composer Anirudh. “Heart goes out to @vijayantony and family at this tragic and difficult time. More power and strength to you,” the Jawan composer wrote.

Composer Yuvan Shankar Raja also posted an emotional note on Twitter, writing that he was “deeply disturbed and saddened” to hear about Vijay Antony’s loss. “As a father myself, I can’t imagine what pain Vijay Antony must be going through now. I pray that The Almighty gives the family the strength to bear this unbearable loss.”

The composer also wrote that it was a “painful” reminder how “delicate” mental health is and urged people, especially the young generation, to reach out for help during challenging times.
Meanwhile, Antony’s earlier statement — where he spoke about his father’s death by suicide and what the family faced — has emerged again. “No matter how painful life gets, or the kind of difficulties you might have to go through, never commit suicide. It is heartbreaking for the children. My father took his own life when I was 7 and my sister was 5. I have seen how difficult it was for my mother after that and the hardships she has gone through,” he had said.
A case has been registered and the police are conducting a further inquiry into the incident. The police are yet to ascertain the reason for her death. Further details are awaited.
