Tushar Hiranandani directorial Sri, a biopic on visually impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla, was set to hit cinema halls on September 15. Actor Rajkummar Raoplays the titular role in the film. Without a word, the makers decided to push its release, and the reason, surprise surprise, is Shah Rukh Khan.
Sharing an exclusive update about the movie, the Saand Ki Aankh director told indianexpress.com, “The film will now release sometime in December.” When asked the reason for the same, he smiled to say, “I can’t compete with Shah Rukh Khan.”

SRK’s action drama Jawan, which was earlier set to release in June, was pushed to a later date (September 7). Also featuring south stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, the film will release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
As for Tushar’s film Sri, it also stars Alaya F, Jyotika and Sharad Kelkar. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani, the film has been penned by Jagdeep Sidhu and Sumit Purohit. Sri went on floors in November 2022, and in March this year, its release date was announced.
As per ANI, Srikanth Bolla faced immense opposition and struggle right from his birth to fighting a long-standing legal battle with the state after class 10 to opt for the science stream. However, Srikanth always had bigger dreams. He not only cleared his tenth and twelfth standard exams with flying colours but also managed to be the first international blind student to study at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He established Bollant Industries in 2012 with funding from Ratan Tata.
Talking about his character, Rajkummar Rao told the news agency, “Srikanth Bolla is an inspiration! It’s indeed a privilege to play such an inspiring persona who has been through a lot of hardships and, despite that, has risen like a phoenix! I am really looking forward to playing Srikanth.”
Apart from Sri, Tushar Hiranandani is also helming Scam 2003.
