Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar bonded like a house on fire while filming for their upcoming movie ‘Wazir’. While Farhan had earlier directed Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Lakshya’, this time both were performing their duties in front of the camera. And the topic on which they bonded the most was Big B’s iconic movie ‘Deewar’ which was penned by the famous Salim-Javed duo.

“We spent a lot of time together and spoke a lot about Deewar. A lot of conversation used to revolve around the movie which Salim Saab had co-written with my father (Javed Akhtar). He is also very witty and funny but then those are private moments which I can’t share,” shared Farhan,

Talking about the happy camaraderie they shared, Farhan Akhtar said: “I am happy that I got a lot of time to spend with Amitabh Bachchan. We all are big fans of him and his movies are something we grew up on. I spoke to him a lot about the past and about approaching particular roles in movies.”

The actor was speaking on the sidelines of the trailer launch of “Wazir”.

Neil Nitin Mukesh, who plays the titular role, said he was nervous when he was approached for the character by the film’s producer, Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

“I had a mammoth task as my character had to intimidate Mr Bachchan’s character. I said how can you intimidate someone whose name itself intimidates you? But then I thought, my career would be incomplete if I don’t work with him, Vidhu sir and the entire team.”

The film also stars Aditi Rao Hyadri and John Abraham in a special role. “Wazir” writer Abhijat Joshi, who has penned films like “PK”, “3 Idiots”, also spoke about the issue of writers being underpaid and not getting their due credit in the industry.

“I think writers themselves have a lot to do. There is a competence issue as well… You just can’t say I deserve to be famous. You need to deliver for a long long time.

“The problem exists but the only solution is to go on creating work to the best of your ability… If you do it consistently and long enough then people have to notice and give importance.”

‘Wazir’ is set to release on January 8, 2016. (With PTI inputs)
