Actor Shraddha Kapoor appeared as the first-ever digital cover star for SCREEN magazine at its grand launch in Mumbai on Friday. At the event, she addressed hypothetical toxic boyfriends, commitment issues, and several other relationship-related quandaries. “I would run for my life,” she said, when asked what she’d do if she were confronted with an alcoholic partner, as her character in Aashiqui 2 was.
At the SCREEN launch event, Shraddha was asked what would she do if she had to deal with a person like Rahul Jaykar from Aashiqui 2. She replied, “In Aashiqui, Rahul Jaikar wasn’t really threatened by my character’s success, but unfortunately, the demon of alcoholism overtook him. But, if I had a character like that in real life, I will run in the other direction for my life. I would be like, ‘Where is the exit? Bhaago!'”
When asked if she, too, deals with commitment issues like her character Riya Somani in the film Half Girlfriend, she said, “I am that full ‘fairytale romance chahiye in life’, no Half Girlfriend business for me!”
Before Stree 2, Shraddha Kapoor was seen in the rom-com Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar with Ranbir Kapoor. In the film, Shraddha’s character constantly tries to avoid living with her partner’s extremely friendly joint family. When asked if she is like that in real life as well, she said, “That’s tricky, because I live with my family and I love it.” She added, “The energy of having your family members around… there is constant party at home, so I don’t know how to answer that. But, I have a very interesting anecdote to share.”
“We have this system in our home. Whenever (anybody in the family) wants their space from each other, we have made DND signs on paper, which we hang out of our room. So, the rules of these DNDs are that you can only knock on the door, or bang it loudly when there is an emergency. If not, you will wait till the sign is off,” shared the Saaho star.
The daughter of veteran Hindi film actor Shakti Kapoor, Shraddha made her debut in the industry with the film Teen Patti. But she truly broke out with the romantic drama Aashiqui 2, co-starring Aditya Roy Kapur. In her decade-plus career, Shraddha has starred in several hit films such as Chhichhore, directed by Dangal’s Nitesh Tiwari and starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput, as well as Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, a pandemic-era hit starring Ranbir Kapoor. But her latest film, Stree 2, propelled her career to the next level, emerging as one of the biggest Indian hits of all time.
