‘Kitne Aadmi Thhe’, a commonly used statement with a much deeper impact, forms just one of the many dialogues that have become words of common use after the 1975 movie ‘Sholay’ became a blockbuster. The Bollywood cult classic, which completes 40 years on August 15, has lived beyond its age and time. The songs, fight sequences and especially the dialogues are still fresh in the minds of viewers.

A Ramesh Sippy directorial, ‘Sholay’ had megastar Amitabh Bachchan and ‘He Man’ Dharmendra in the lead roles and as the iconic ‘Jai and Veeru’. Another iconic character ‘Thakur’ was played by Sanjeev Kumar. Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan played Veeru and Jai’s love interests respectively.

Also, ‘Sholay’ gave Hindi cinema one of its most iconic villains of all time ‘Gabbar Singh’ very aptly played by then debutante late Amjad Khan.
