Sonakshi Sinha is getting married to her longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal on June 23 in Mumbai. Recently, amid reports that there was a rift in the Sinha family, Sonakshi’s father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, confirmed his attendance at the wedding to bless the couple. A few years ago, however, Shatrughan had painted a different picture for his son-in-law. In an earlier episode of Simi Selects India’s Most Desirable, Shatrughan had shared that he wanted a son-in-law who would live with them.

When Simi asked Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha how they would deal with Sonakshi getting married back in 2011, Shatrughan said, “One day, she will go away to in-laws. Given a chance and choice, we won’t look for a son-in-law but we will look for another son for us, who will stay with us.” He added, “I will only say that Sonakshi, I love you, we are always there with you. I am your bestest father’.”

Her mother Poonam said, “Sonakshi, the person you want to live the rest of your life with, as I always told you that he should be someone who loves you more than you love him.” In the same chat, Shatrughan described his daughter as a “very sentimental and emotional” who would start crying even if Shatrughan accidentally cut himself while shaving.

Sonakshi and Zaheer are getting married after dating each other for seven years. A week ago, Shatrughan had said that he was still waiting to get informed about his daughter’s wedding. However, today, he shared with Times Now that he would be attending her wedding and will bless the couple. “I will be there at the wedding, certainly. Why shouldn’t I and why won’t I? Her happiness is my happiness and vice versa. She has every right to choose her partner and the other details of her wedding,” he said.

He also said that he would ask everyone, who was spreading lies about the rift in the family, to shut up. He said, “Those who are coming out with fake news are just sounding very frustrated with this joyous occasion as they are spreading nothing but lies. I would like to caution them with my signature dialogue: Khamosh, it’s none of your business. Mind only your business.”
