Choreographer Bosco Martis spoke about working with Shah Rukh Khan, and praised the actor for his work ethic and immense dedication to the craft. Bosco said in an interview that despite physical restrictions and discomfort, Shah Rukh persevered and mastered the difficult steps of the song “Jhoome Jo Pathaan,” from the blockbuster film Pathaan.

Chatting with Siddharth Kannan, Bosco said that Shah Rukh ‘never complains’, and encourages Bosco to not take it easy on him because of his ‘busted knee or bad back’. Bosco said that Shah Rukh completely surrenders, because he knows that the choreographers have got his back. “SRK sir is a beauty to work with. SRK sir says, ‘Bhai, tu jo step de main woh karunga (I’ll do whatever you tell me to do). Tu yeh dekh le whether it looks good on me or not’,” Bosco said.

He continued, “He’s got a busted knee, his back is gone. He never complains, never. That’s the beauty. Even in Pathaan, the way he came, the streets were… Now, in Spain, you can’t fix the streets. You work with what you have, whether they’re cobbled or slippery. But he’s never complained, he knows that somebody is there to protect him. He’s somebody who surrenders, he knows that there is a choreographer who’s there to protect him.”

Bosco said that Shah Rukh could have very easily asked for simpler steps, but he persevered despite everything when they were shooting “Jhoome Jo Pathaan.” He continued, “He wasn’t comfortable with the step, because there was a lot of knee. But he said, ‘Don’t change the step because of my physicality. You do it the way you want it to, and I’ll try my best.’ And that’s the energy and effort that’s gone into making him such a superstar.”

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan emerged as a major blockbuster, grossing more than Rs 1000 crore worldwide. It was also praised for its catchy tunes and memorable dance choreography, although the song “Besharam Rang” attracted some controversy for an outfit work by Deepika Padukone.
