Ranbir Kapoor’s private chef recalls having Rakhi Sawant as a client, says she’d negotiate prices over ‘crazy’ voice notes: ‘Babu, nahi hoga…’

Chef Harsh Dixit, who operates a business through which high-paying clients can hire private chefs, recalled the origins of his entrepreneurial journey and how he got started cooking meals for celebrities. He said that he used to operate a packed meals service for several Bollywood personalities a decade or so ago, which is where he first met Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. But among his many clients back then was also Rakhi Sawant, the internet personality who, Chef Harsh said, is pretty much exactly the same as her public persona.

Appearing on the Untriggered with AminJaz podcast, Chef Harsh recalled, “I started my career at a restaurant, then I started my meal-prep service. For the kind of service that it was, it got a lot of attention from people from the movie industry. They were looking for something like this, getting packed meals delivered to them based on their diets. Ranbir was one of our clients back then as well… I was cooking for everyone; Ranbir, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Shahid Kapoor, even Rakhi Sawant!”

Everybody was instantly intrigued by the mention of Rakhi Sawant. They asked what she was like as a client, and Chef Harsh said, “Dude, I’ve had some crazy voice notes that she would send. She would give her preferences…” Asked if she’s the same off-screen as she is in public, Harsh said with a laugh, “Yes! Even her voice notes. That’s real, whatever we see the whole time. Some fasting and all she would do, and ask for some sabudana khichdi, and we’d wonder isme kahan se protein calories and all… I didn’t know she didn’t have management, she was doing it by herself.”

Harsh said that this was over a decade ago, and that Rakhi would ‘try to bargain’ over the phone. “She’s gone and said something like, ‘Babu, nahi hoga’. It was damn fun.” Harsh now operates a business through which he provides private chef services to celebrity clients. He has been working with Ranbir for years, and his journey as a private chef began after Ranbir asked if he’d be open to working with him.
