Ranbir Kapoor and I played football in school together, shares Arjun Bijlani: ‘He’s a nice guy, speaks less, has his own people’

He went on to share how he once bumped into Ranbir later in life. “I remember once bumping into him during one of our shoots. We spoke for some time.”

Their paths crossed again when Ranbir appeared on a show Arjun was hosting. “It was after that we met on a show that I was hosting, where he came to promote his film. We didn’t have any script or plan, and I hadn’t told anyone that we were childhood friends. But Ranbir himself mentioned it on stage. That was very sweet of him. I am really happy for his family,” Arjun said.

Reflecting on his schoolmate, Arjun added: “He is a very nice guy. He does his own thing, speaks less, and has his own people. I love him as an actor and I’m glad that in this lifetime we were school friends.”

When asked if people at school knew about Ranbir’s background, Arjun confirmed: “Everybody at school knew he was Rishi Kapoor’s son. But we were kids, we were innocent. We were just friends. All that wasn’t in our head.”

Their connection became public earlier when Ranbir appeared on Ravivaar with Star Parivar, a show hosted by Arjun. During the episode, Ranbir said, “Arjun, people don’t know here that we know each other since childhood. We were in the same school, same class, and same house in football. And I feel so great to see everything you are doing. The fact that you are a father now and such a great host, it’s really heartwarming to see a colleague of mine, and a friend of mine.”

The revelation left the audience pleasantly surprised, but what followed made the moment even more special. The two friends walked up to each other, hugged tightly, and Ranbir even lifted Arjun in a warm, heartfelt gesture.
