Radhika Madan says Homi Adajania yelled at her in front of 250 people as she got a walk wrong; Jubilee actor Sidhant Gupta asks, ‘How does it feel?’

Radhika said that at the time, she was shooting for Kuttey and Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo simultaneously. She would shoot in Jaipur during the daytime, and would fly to Mumbai to shoot Kuttey in the evenings. More often than not, she would be exhausted. One day, she said, she was relieved that she was only required to shoot a quick shot for Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, and was sure that she’d be able to sleep some on time. But Homi noticed that she wasn’t up to the mark, and told her off.

She said, “He was challenging me and Dimple ma’am every single day. He was so hard on us. He was so lenient with everybody else. Maybe he had worked with us before, so he had that liberty, but he was really hard on us… It was a very easy scene, I thought I’d be able to sleep finally. I just had to walk, sit, give one expression, and that is it… There were 250 juniors… I was relaxed, how could I mess a walk up? Cut, silence, and I hear Homi on the mic, ‘Can you f**king walk in as Shanta?’ Everyone was stunned, I was a mess.”

As the rest of the panel listened in silence, Radhika spoke about how impressed she is with Homi dedication to getting everything done perfectly. “He told me, ‘You chose this. I’m not letting go of my character. I want my character to be there. If you are tired, if you are not in the zone, it’s not my problem. I didn’t ask you to do two films at the same time’.”

Sidhant, who rose to fame after starring in Vikramaditya Motwane’s Jubilee, asked, “How did it feel when someone screams at you in front of 250 people?” Tillotama Shome, who was also a part of the panel, looked at Sidhant and said, “I know!” Radhika said that she couldn’t let her ego get the better of her in that moment. Later in the same discussion, Bhuvan Arora spoke about how encouraging directors Raj and DK were on the set of Farzi, and would allow him to put his own spin on the character during takes. Pointing at Radhika, he said, “It is the duty of every director to make the actor comfortable. I would’ve been scattered if my director tells me that…”

Homi Adajania is best known for directing the film Cocktail. He also helmed Being Cyrus, Angrezi Medium, and worked on the recent Prime Video show Jee Karda. Radhika previously called out the hectic work culture in the television industry, but subsequently apologised for her words.
