Raaj Kumar beat up a man so bad that he died on Juhu beach, recalls Raza Murad; says he was a cop before becoming an actor
Raaj Kumar killed a man because he misbehaved with a woman. He was later acquitted by the court.

Late actor Raaj Kumar, who is remembered for his films like Tirangaa, Pakeezah, Waqt among many others, was allegedly a murderer, as claimed by veteran actor Raza Murad. In a recent interview, Raza shared that Raaj Kumar once beat a man to death and was tried in court for the same. He was eventually acquitted. Raza did not specify when the incident took place but mentioned that the incident happened before the release of Mother India in 1957. Raaj Kumar made his debut in the movies with a film titled Rangeeli in 1952.
Raza recalled the events leading up to the murder and said, “Once he was strolling on Juhu beach with one of his friends and his friend’s girlfriend. Someone made a nasty comment about the woman. Raaj got very angry. He beat the man so bad that he died. And then there was a murder case against him.”
Raza shared that since his father was friends with the actor, he went to every court hearing. “He was prosecuted but ultimately, he was acquitted,” he said and added, “This case went on for months and then he was acquitted.” Raza shared that before becoming an actor Raaj Kumar was a cop with Mumbai police.
In another interview, filmmaker Mehul Kumar shared that Raaj Kumar had raised objections to working with Nana Patekar in Tirangaa because he had heard that the actor was abusive on set and had beaten up people in the past. “I called Raaj Kumar. I told him I have finalised Nana Patekar. He said, ‘Nana abuses on set, beats people up, why did you sign him?'” recalled Mehul Kumar in a chat with the YouTube channel Shreshth Bharat. In another chat with Friday Talkies, Mehul said that Rajinikanth refused to work with Raaj Kumar because he did not want to work with someone who was unpredictable.
