Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ romance blossomed so fast that fans and friends barely got time to dig into their love story. The duo sparked their first romantic involvement on the Met Gala red carpet, and the next thing we knew, they were getting engaged. Now, seven years into their marriage, they still have a lot of stories to share. On May 15, Nick Jonas arrived at Kelly and Mark and spoke about when he knew Priyanka was the one, while also giving a shoutout to their daughter Malti. Nick’s statement comes days after the couple’s recent Met Gala appearance, where a few body language experts pointed out the duo’s seemingly distant behaviour, hinting at potential ‘trouble in paradise.’

When Nick Jonas knew ‘Priyanka was the one’

During the show, host Kelly and Mark asked Nick about  “the loves of his life,” and that’s when he shared that his daughter Malti Marie was actually there with him at the studio, watching her first taping. “She’s watching from the wings,” he said. When asked when he knew Priyanka was the one, Nick didn’t take much time and replied, “Pretty immediately.” The Sucker crooner revealed that they were friends for about a year before things turned romantic. “We actually had a few conversations in those early days… came over to the house together… and once we started dating, it was pretty much like two months to engagement and then another three or four months after that we got married.”

The hosts, on the other hand, looked pretty excited discussing their early dating days, as they recalled a dinner they organised for the couple and how nervous they were to host Nick’s then-fiancée. “We felt like nervous parents,” Kelly admitted. Nick agreed: “I didn’t want to mess up either.” She added that even their kids were acting way too perfect that night, not at all like their usual selves, like they knew something very serious was going on. Nick laughed before quipping, “It was a unique experience for all of us,” he said with a sigh of relief, “but it all worked out.”

Nick Jonas on daughter Malti learning Karate

During the conversation, the singer revealed that his toddler is turning three and added that, while she is not into soccer, she is learning karate instead. Nick, fresh off the success of his Broadway appearance in The Last Five Years, because of which his family got to move to NYC for the time being, added that it’s been a special time for their family. “We’re here in New York doing this show, and it’s kind of the first time in a long time that we’ve been in one place for longer than a few weeks as a family.” Even though he added that Priyanka has been going back and forth to India for her shoots, Nick said it’s been really nice to have some sort of routine. “It’s amazing,” he said.

The singer gushed about his daughter now attending nursery school in New York, giving proud dad expression as the crowd applauded, and said, “She’s got her little friend group.” Nick further revealed signing her up for toddler activities in the city. Apparently, soccer wasn’t a hit. “She did not like that,” he said. But she’s been loving karate. “They get in their karate outfits and just go ‘hi-ya!’ It’s amazing.”  The singer added how much he appreciates the stability and routine their family has found lately, even in the middle of busy work schedules and travel. “It’s amazing to have that kind of friendship and stability,” he said. “Maybe I took it for granted before.”
