Neeyat teaser: Ten suspects and one Vidya Balan, as actor turns detective for her big screen return. Watch

There is a murder, there are suspects and there is one Vidya Balan. The teaser of the actor’s latest feature Neeyat dropped on Wednesday. The murder mystery is set to release on the big screen on July 7.

Led by Vidya, Neeyat features an ensemble cast of Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, Dipannita Sharma, Niki Walia, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli and Danesh Razvi. The film’s trailer will drop on Thursday.

A world of mysteries and motives will be revealed.

The 17-second teaser begins with visuals of waves crashing as a voiceover says, “Suspects are arriving. Motives are forming. Get ready folks, a mystery is coming.” In the film, Vidya plays detective Mira Rao. “Neeyat narrates a gripping suspense story of an unlikely detective (Vidya Balan) who investigates a mysterious murder at a billionaire’s party where nothing is what it seems and all suspects hide a secret or two,” a note from the makers read.

Billed as a whodunnit, Neeyat is directed by Anu Menon, who also directed Vidya in the 2020 film Shakuntala Devi. Neeyat has been written by Anu Menon, Priya Venkataraman, Advaita Kala and Girvani Dhyani with dialogues penned by Kausar Munir.

The film is produced by the Vikram Malhotra-led Abundantia Entertainment, that also produced Shakuntala Devi, and co-produced by Amazon Prime Video. Neeyat marks Vidya Balan’s return to theatres post pandemic, after her successful stint on OTT with three acclaimed films– Shakuntala Devi, Sherni and Jalsa.
