Veteran actor Moushumi Chatterjee has worked with many Bollywood superstars, including Amitabh Bachchan (Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Benaam, Hum Kaun Hai?, Manzil) and late actor Rajesh Khanna (Prem Bandhan and Humshakal). In a recent interview, she revealed that while Bachchan was never arrogant about being a star, Khanna on the other hand required people to be around him. She also opened up about the demise of her father-in-law, music director-singer Hemant Kumar.

In a promo video of Filmfare’s interview, Moushumi recalled her experience of being on the sets with the two legends. “Amitabh Bachchan ko maine kabhi nahi dekha chamcha chamchi ke saath (I never saw Amitabh Bachchan surrounded by yes men). I have never seen any buddies around him that don’t need to be, but I used to see them with Rajesh Khanna. He needed that pampering and attention,” she shared.

Moreover, the Bengali actor, whose first language isn’t Hindi, also said that Rajesh Khanna used to have fun while teaching her how to abuse. “He used to teach me abuses. He used to laugh because I used to just say it. I was innocent, I didn’t know what was the meaning,” she said.

Moushumi’s father-in-law Hemant Kumar passed away in 1989, due to a cardiac arrest. Talking about how his death affected her, she expressed, “When Hemant Kumar died, for the first time I felt in Bombay that I am an orphan. Any fight I used to have with my husband, he was always on my side. Even if I said I want to divorce your son and get married, he would still say that I will be with you.”

On the work front, Moushumi Chatterjee recently made a comeback to Bengali cinema after 12 years with a family drama Aari, helmed by Jiit Chakraborty. She essayed the role of a mother to Yash Daasguptaa, also starring Nussrat Jahan.
