Lionel Messi maintains calm as Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff booed by crowd at Wankhede

Lionel Messi’s highly anticipated G.O.A.T India Tour 2025 reached Mumbai on Sunday. While fans came in huge numbers to see this global football icon, they reacted negatively to extended celebrity appearances at the gathering.

Football superstar’s Lionel Messi’s G.O.A.T India Tour 2025 had India entranced over the weekend but it appears his real fans are not all pleased. After Kolkata and Hyderabad, Messi landed in Mumbai on Sunday where he attended a meet and greet event in Mumbai. Like all Mumbai events, there was a generous sprinkling of Bollywood celebs at the event — Kareena Kapoor Khan landed there along with her boys Taimur Ali Khan and Jeh Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, and Geeta Basra were also at the event.

However, due to extended celeb interactions, Messi’s fans didn’t get the time they expected with their idol. Their anger was targeted at the celebs as Tiger Shroff and Ajay Devgn were booed at the Wankhede Stadium. Ajay and Tiger were booed by the crowd, as per videos that have emerged on social media.

Tiger Shroff was invited on stage and introduced as a youth icon associated with Project Mahadeva, a football development initiative focused on identifying and training young talent across Maharashtra. While the felicitation was being done by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, a small group from the audience was heard booing and disrupting the programme.

This continued when Ajay Devgn was called to the stage. The actor was honoured for his film Maidaan that puts the spotlight on Indian football history and is the biopic of legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim.

Sharing a clip from the event, a user posted on X, “Announcer – Please welcome youth icon Tiger Shroff. Crowd – BOOOOOOOO!!! Surprisingly, even Ajay Devgn was booed. The crowd had purely come to see Messi and Indian legends like Tendulkar and Chhetri.”

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also faced a similar response while addressing the audience. Things quietened when he invoked ‘Ganpati Bappa’, prompting the crowd to respond with chants of ‘Morya’. During all this, Messi was seen maintaining a calm and professional demeanor, smiling and standing patiently.

The mood improved significantly when cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar joined Messi on the stage for a special interaction.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who often speaks about her boy’s love for Messi, got a chance of meeting the Argentine star along with her boys, Taimur (eight years) and Jeh (four years).

Kareena shared some photos before making it to the meet-and-greet session with Messi, and captioned her post as, “Got dressed up to take the boys to meet their hero ⚽️ Thank you to my @hsbc_in family for making it happen 🤎.”

The family posed with the football legend, and those photos are also shared on social media.

Not just Kareena, but Shahid Kapoor also attended the event with his daughter Misha Kapoor.
