Lakshya recalls learning about Dostana 2 being shelved from an online portal after Dharma made official announcement: ‘Karan Johar said…’
Lakshya said that he learnt about Dostana 2 being shelved from an online portal and didn't take the report seriously at first.
Lakshya made his debut with Kill.Lakshya, who recently made his big screen debut with Kill, was previously supposed to make his debut with Dostana 2 which also starred Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor. But, soon after the film started its shoot, it was shelved quite abruptly. In a recent interview, Lakshya recalled how he learnt about Dostana 2 shutting down, and said that at first, he thought this was a fake report. The actor also shared that he got a call from Dharma Productions, the producers behind Dostana 2, about the film being shelved after they had already made an official announcement.
In a chat with Galatta India, Lakshya recalled that he had already shot for Dostana 2 for about 15-17 days when he learnt that the film was being shut down. “I got to know on the day when it was announced officially. Before that, I had no idea what was going on. That too my friend saw some article on one of the pages he was following. He read it out loud and I was sitting at the other end of the couch an he said, ‘Bhai teri film… aisa kyu aa raha hai ki band ho gayi hai?’ Mujhe laga aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain bade bade sheron mein. Hogi baat, itna tavajjo dena nahi hai (Why does it say that your film has shut down? I thought such little things happen in big cities and I shouldn’t pay attention to such things.)”
Lakshya said that after he read that, he got a call from director Collin D’Cunha and he could sense that something was wrong. “He said come to the office, we want to talk to you. Then I knew it’s serious, sh*t has hit the fan, things are going south now. I had a gut feeling that something is wrong,” he recalled and added, “I reached the office. I saw their faces and I knew something is up. Karan sir said come let’s chat about what all has happened.”
Lakshya said that through all this, Karan Johar never made him feel like he had “lost out on an opportunity” and supported him. He was then offered Bedhadak, which was also being produced by Dharma Productions, but was shelved later. The actor then made his debut with Kill, also starring Raghav Juyal.
