Jolly LLB 3 box office collection day 1: Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi are back in the courtroom; this time as rival lawyers in the highly anticipated sequel, Jolly LLB 3. The third installment of the successful legal-comedy franchise reunites them with the ever-reliable Saurabh Shukla, reprising his role as the no-nonsense Judge Tripathi. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Jolly LLB 3 had a respectable opening, earning around Rs 12.5 crore net on Day 1. While the figure is promising for a courtroom comedy, it does fall short of the Rs 13.2 crore opening achieved by Jolly LLB 2, which starred Akshay Kumar.
The film recorded an overall 22.4% Hindi occupancy across India. The day began on a modest note with 10.28% occupancy in the morning shows, followed by a noticeable jump in the afternoon (17.46%) and night shows (39.45%). Among the major metros, Delhi-NCR led with 1,012 shows and an average occupancy of 29.33%, while Mumbai followed with 669 shows and an occupancy rate of 23%. Shockingly, the film had less than 4,000 shows on its first day. In comparison, Sitaare Zameen Par had around 9,000 shows on its first day. Housefull 5 also had around 7,000 shows on its first day.
In comparison to Akshay Kumar’s recent releases, Jolly LLB 3 has performed moderately. It lags behind the Day 1 collection of Housefull 5, another comedy franchise film, which opened at Rs 24 crore. However, it outperformed other 2025 Akshay releases such as Sky force (Rs 12.25 crore) and Kesari: Chapter 2, which opened at a modest Rs 7.75 crore.
The film also fared better than Aamir Khan’s much-hyped Sitaare Zameen Par, which collected Rs 10.7 crore on its opening day. However, it significantly trails behind this year’s breakout blockbuster Saiyaara, which opened at Rs 21.5 crore despite featuring two newcomers with no prior box office pull. Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava saw a massive opening of Rs 31 crore, and even Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 began with Rs 19.25 crore.
This week, Jolly LLB 3 shares the box office window with Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi, a limited theatrical release, opened with just Rs 25 lakh. This gives the Akshay-Arshad starrer a relatively clearer field. However, it does face continued competition from the Telugu fantasy-action film Mirai, which is still going strong in its second week and has so far collected Rs 67.6 crore. While the road ahead looks long, the franchise’s solid track record and decent word-of-mouth could help boost footfalls in the coming days.
